Courage V Pearson

Director of Organizing

As the Director of Organizing, Courage V connects with youth-led movements across the state and country, building vision, programs, campaigns, and relationships with youth who want to create social change. They anchor and support Team Transforming, which designs and implements Outright’s education, youth leadership, and school-based and cultural change initiatives. Their work includes visioning and building statewide events, supporting youth leaders to flourish, and coordinating Outright’s statewide presence in coalitions.

Courage V works at Outright because they believe in the transformation that happens when we stand with LGBTQ+ youth and support them in their joy, self-determination, fierce sense of justice, and journey of discovery.

Courage V’s BA in Philosophy from Smith College and a Master’s in Feminist Liberation Theologies from the Episcopal Divinity School inform their vision of liberation. More than 30 years’ professional background in community organizing, education, and conflict mediation ground Courage V’s orientation toward tangible and actionable moves that uplift those most on the edges of our communities and society. The common thread of their work as an educator, anti-oppression trainer, and consultant in schools, nonprofits, and collectives has been to dissolve artificial limits on who and what is seen and valued.

Courage V dislikes: fascism, indirect communication, and unsustainable farming practices. Courage V Likes: dancing at their desk, loud expressions of joy, theater games, Marvel movies, and sushi.
