At Outright, we envision and actively build a Vermont where LGBTQ+ youth have hope, equity, and power! In these challenging times, supporting trans and queer youth through meaningful, aligned fundraising is more important than ever. We deeply value and appreciate your creativity, passion, and commitment. Here's how to create an impactful fundraiser that stays true to our shared values and supports Outright's mission.

Here's our 10 steps to fundraising for hope, equity, and power for LGBTQ+ youth!
Step 1: Know Your Why
Why do you believe in Outright’s work? What motivates you to get involved, now? Understanding your why will help you stay energized, and inspire others to join you!
Get to know Outright Vermont! Learn about our mission, values, and programs so you can tell others what we're up to and help others to find their why.
Step 2: Plan a Fundraiser
Keep it simple, creative, and authentic to you! Milestone events like birthdays; community events like bake sales, drag shows and athletic events; or school and workplace fundraisers are great options.
Don’t forget to decide how you will collect funds at your event - cash, venmo, checks or by donating directly on our website!
Step 3: Activate your Network
Fundraising is done in relationships. Start with who you know and love. Jot down 10-20 friends, family, coworkers, neighbors that you think might care about the health and safety of LGBTQ+ youth in Vermont.
Don't overthink it! Your list doesn't need to be perfect, just personal.
Step 4: Set a Goal
A goal gives your fundraiser a heartbeat and finish line for the community to rally around. People give more confidently when they can see the difference their contribution makes.
Put a number on it, and break it down: "If 50 people purchase a glass of lemonade at $2, I’ll make my fundraising goal of $100 in no time!”
Step 7: Support Takes Many Forms
Money isn’t the only way to support our mission! We rely on networks of support through material donations like books or art supplies, our volunteer program, education partnerships, business sponsorships, and more.

Step 8: Celebrate Success and Thank Supporters
Completing your fundraiser is a landmark. Whether or not you met your fundraising goal, you took action to better the lives of queer and trans young people across VT. That is worth celebrating!
Share your success publicly and privately, like through social media and with personal thank-you notes to each supporter. Let them know their generosity made a difference. People who feel appreciated show up again!
Step 9: Tell Us How it Went
What did this experience mean for you and your community? What worked well? Reach out and let us know at development@outrightvt.org. We want to personally thank you for your incredible support! Heck Yeah!!!!
Step 10: Share the funds with Outright Vermont!
When you are ready to send your funds, submit your collected donations securely online, or sending us a check made out to “Outright Vermont.” We would love for you to provide the following details with your donation so we can thank you properly:
