Queer Youth Prom!

Vermont youth, get ready for the biggest, queerest event of the spring: the 2026 Queer Youth Prom!

Join us on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 3 - 8 pm at Sunrise for a FREE and fabulous evening of food, friends, dancing, and lots of queer joy!

Come as your most fabulous self, ready to meet new friends and dance the night away.

Event Details

When: Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Where: The event will take place at Sunrise, Outright’s beautiful new lakefront property in Benson, VT. The property is rustic, so dress to be comfortable in outdoor spaces and on unpaved surfaces when you arrive. We’ll have spaces set up for getting ready together, and when it’s prom time, we’ll all move to the lodge!
Ages: This is a safe and welcoming space for all LGBTQ+ and allied youth, ages 13 to 19.
Theme: The theme this year is Moonlit Forest: think majestic nature, fairy lights, and swirling mist. Heck Yeah, it’s going to be magical!
Transportation: Outright is providing transportation support! Let us know on your registration form if you would like to take the bus.
Safety and accessibility: All activities will take place in and around the wheelchair-accessible lodge. For more information about safety and accessibility, scroll down to our FAQ!
Registration: All participants must register for Prom by Monday, May 4.

Here's some of the fabulousness you can expect when you come to the 2026 Queer Youth Prom:

Getting Ready Party: From 3 - 5 pm we will have a getting-ready party together, with fun activities and lots of sparkle! We’ll supply some makeup, nail polish, and fab clothes from our gender affirming closet. Get ready together, play some games and get to know the awesome people you’ll be sharing a dance floor with!
Food: Delicious, inclusive finger foods will be provided for all attendees! There will be something for everyone, including vegan and gluten-free options. The food will be available throughout the event, so no one will go hungry as they dance the night away. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know on your registration form so we can plan to accommodate your needs!
Music: A live DJ will keep the dance floor pumping with upbeat hits! Expect a perfect blend of music to keep the party going - and yes, you can request your faves!
Transportation: For youth who want a ride to Prom, sign up for a bus on your registration form! We'll have buses picking up and returning youth in Brattleboro, Burlington, Middlebury, Montpelier, Saint Albans, Saint Johnsbury, Springfield, Waterbury, and White River Junction!

This will be a night to remember, filled with friendship, fun, and belonging. Whether you’re looking to dance under the twinkle lights, make new friends, or simply celebrate who you are, the 2026 Queer Prom is the place to be!

Queer Youth Prom FAQs

Parents and caregivers who are dropping off youth at Prom: this is a youth-only event. For folks who would like to stay nearby to pick up youth after Prom, we can recommend some excellent places to stop and eat in town!
Youth who are driving to Prom: we encourage you to carpool with your friends! It’s better for the environment and a lot more fun. Parking will be available at Sunrise.

All participants are encouraged to test for COVID on arrival, and tests will be available onsite. Once you’ve tested negative, you’re welcome to remove your mask and dance!
In the event anyone at the event tests positive for COVID, we’ll have a quarantine space available.
If you do not wish to take a COVID test, we will ask that you remain masked for the duration of the event, except while eating or drinking.

We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and accessible space for all attendees!

Activities will take place in and around the wheelchair-accessible lodge.
