Jordan Young

Treasurer — they/them

Jordan’s lived experience of gradually discovering themself and finding their people informs their passion for removing obstacles from the lives of LGBTQ+ youth. Jordan realized they were queer in 1974, but developing a community where they could be fully seen and celebrated took them 40 years of trial and error and continuously seeking and creating space to just be. Today’s youth shouldn’t have to wait that long to experience queer joy and affirmation. Jordan is proud to be part of an organization creating hope, equity, and power and making it better for youth today!

Jordan is passionate about ensuring others have the tools, knowledge, and connections to thrive. They have taught inclusive sexuality education through the Unitarian Universalist Society for over 20 years, and in 2018 they earned their Master in Social Work from UVM. Additionally, Jordan has spent 40 years in the information technology industry, mainly concentrating on sales, support, and technology policy in Latin America. They have co-authored a handful of computer books - including some in the “… for Dummies” series!

Jordan has facilitated groups at Outright since 2016 and decided to deepen their commitment to Outright by joining the Board of Directors.

Their comfort with numbers and details, experience with board governance, and human-centered values all make Jordan an excellent communicator and a uniquely supportive and grounded presence on the Board.

Jordan now lives in Cornwall with their wife, Margaret. Together, they raised two children, Meg and Zac: now young adults of whom Jordan and Margaret are inordinately proud.
