Christopher Brown

Board Secretary — he/him

Christopher didn’t find the courage to step into Outright until adulthood, though he was born and raised in Burlington. Because he knows what it feels like to go it alone, today, he is fully engaged in paving the way for as many youth as possible to find joyful, welcoming communities where they are seen and celebrated. He loves Outright’s queer ethic of embracing possibility and champions the organization’s commitment to passing the mic to queer youth and making decisions that center their needs and voices.

As the Board Secretary, Christopher helps keep record of the internal workings of the Board. He takes pride in ensuring the Board’s actions and processes are captured accurately and values how this supports our beliefs around transparency while communicating to both internal and external stakeholders. As a member of the Executive Committee, he is honored to help provide stewardship of and care for the Board of Directors and the organization at large. He is inspired by the passion, wisdom, and creativity of his Board colleagues, and he loves getting to flex his creativity as we approach problem-solving and future planning.

Christopher excels at finding the common threads to bring people together and supporting conversations that validate all voices and experiences. In his work as a Registered Psychotherapist, he harnesses the power of genuine presence and connection to improve lives. Two years of Americorps, where Christopher supported mentorship programs in low-income housing communities, inspired his lifelong passion for value-driven work and community service. Christopher began his involvement as a Friday Night Group facilitator in 2010 and deepened his commitment to Outright by joining the Board of Directors in 2021.

Between board meetings, you can find Christopher at the theater, dahling! Acting, choreographing, singing, dancing, and directing - Christopher does it all. Theater is a huge part of his life and an important creative outlet. He also loves to spend time in the garden, experimenting with new plants, learning to cook with new ingredients, and sharing the bounty with others.
