Andrea Sambrook

Board Member at Large — she/her

Andrea loves to connect with humans of all ages through imaginative play and open curiosity - and most especially, through song! Andrea is fully engaged in Outright’s work and loves that the organization continually embraces transformative ways to build hope, equity, and power for youth - and always keeps it real.

Andrea’s son found Outright first and introduced Andrea to the Trans Parent Group. It was through the group’s collective humor, humility, and tender heartedness that Andrea learned she was not alone. The warmth and support she experienced inspired Andrea to deepen her commitment to Outright, joining the board in 2016. Committed to maintaining a strong board culture, Andrea assists with board recruitment and orientation. Her business acumen contributes to fiscal oversight and visioning. She is proud to be part of Outright’s efforts to pave the way for Vermont families to show up for their kids.

As Founder and Program Director of First Roots - Wild Roots preschool in Hinesburg, VT, Andrea is passionate about supporting families with young children to think outside the binary and creating spaces for children and youth to take the lead and show adults who they are. She is fluent in “three-year-old” and communicates with an open simplicity that brings a complex world into perspective.

Fun facts about Andrea: she can play the ukulele. She will play and sing just about anywhere. She also raises incredibly fluffy Silkie chickens!
