Théodore "Théo" Soucy
As the GSA Network Coordinator, Théo helps Outright’s statewide Gender & Sexuality Alliance (GSA) Network to thrive by offering support, resources, and opportunities for youth and GSA advisors in schools across the state.
Théo is passionate about creating vibrant and welcoming spaces for youth to build community - because all young people deserve a space where they can show up as themselves and experience belonging.
Théo started his education as an English major at Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Upon graduation, they moved to Oregon to work with autistic youth at Bridgeway House school. Théo then relocated to Montréal to pursue an MA in Education and Society at McGill University in Montréal. He continued his graduate studies in Social Justice Education at the University of Toronto while working as a Program Coordinator for Indigenous middle school youth at Kahnawake Youth Centre. This experience demonstrated to him the power of both affinity spaces and “third spaces” - those places outside of home, work, or school where people are free to just exist as themselves and connect with each other.
Théo moved to Vermont to become a Restorative Justice Specialist at Sustainability Academy in Burlington’s Old North End. In this role, they also served as a GSA Coordinator to a vibrant and lively group of elementary school students and enjoyed many connections to Outright. They are thrilled to deepen their connection to the GSA Network and Vermont’s brilliant LGBTQ+ youth community.
Théo is unusually good at finding 4-leaf clovers and unusually bad at knowing left from right. He loves card games, Wikipedia rabbit holes, doing pottery, and being in community in any way possible.
