Queer Cheer Pride Crew Volunteer Training

Are you ready to spread queer joy, spark powerful conversations, and hand out lots and lots of stickers and bubbles? Then we want YOU to join our The Queer Cheer PRIDE Crew: Outright's fabulous crew of volunteers bringing love, info, and fun to Pride festivals across Vermont this June.

We want to make sure we reach as many LGBTQ+ and allied youth this June so that they know we have their backs, and you can HELP! 

As a member of the The Queer Cheer PRIDE Crew, you’ll:

• Share resources and information about Outright’s programs for LGBTQ+ youth, families, and caregivers

• Ask Pride attendees sign a pledge to take action for LGBTQ+ youth

• Hand out stickers, bubbles, and heaps of queer joy

• Host fun games like giant Jenga and flamingo ring toss (competitive ring-tossing skills not required, but very welcome)

Who makes a great Queer Cheer PRIDE Crew member?

LGBTQ+ or allied adults, aged 18+ who are

• Enthusiastic, friendly, and excited to celebrate LGBTQ+ youth

• Comfortable chatting with folks of all ages

• Willing and ready to complete a background check and attend an online training session

Here’s how it works?

1. Sign up TODAY to  let us know you want to be a part of the Queer Cheer PRIDE Crew

2. Attend a 1-hour zoom training that will include:

   1. Details on how Outright will support you every step of the way

   2. Overview of what to expect at Pride and your role

   3. A brief review of materials

   4. Speaking points for frequently asked questions

   5. Q&A

3. Once you complete the training, we’ll put you in our awesome pool of Queer Cheer PRIDE Crew 

4. Keep an eye out for volunteer sign up emails for various PRIDES across the state that will include volunteer shift opportunities (expect 2-4 hour commitments)

5. Choose the PRIDE event that best fits your schedule and needs.

6. We’ll coordinate providing materials to you, and then you’re off!
