Outright Vermont and the Vermont Human Rights Commission are hosting a virtual Info Session on Tuesday, June 24th from 5:00pm - 6:30 pm! This session is tailored to parents & caregivers, but LGBTQ+ and allied youth are also welcome to attend.

Pre-registration is required by Thursday, June 19th. This event will be held online. 

Big Hartman (they/them), the Executive Director & General Counsel of the Vermont Human Rights Commission, will present and answer questions in this highly interactive info session. We will cover Vermont protections for LGBTQ+ youth in:

  • School and Other Public Accommodations

  • Housing

  • Employment

Learn about how you can take action to enforce Vermont's human rights laws and protect yourself, your family, and your community from unlawful discrimination!

This information session will not be recorded, but we will share a handout with resources and takeaways afterwards.

Big Hartman has a lifelong commitment to social justice, equity, and civil rights. They have been a licensed attorney in Vermont since 2005, focusing on labor, employment, and anti-discrimination best practices. After working at a labor union from 2007 to 2013 and running a law practice called Welcoming Workplaces from 2014 until 2021, Big joined the State of Vermont Human Rights Commission as a Staff Attorney Investigator in September of 2021. They became HRC’s Executive Director and General Counsel in 2023. Big is an expert on fair housing, employment discrimination, disability rights, and harassment prevention. In 2024, Vermont Law and Graduate School awarded Big the Social Justice Mission Scholars Alumni Award.
