Allison Mindel

Co-Chair — she/her

Allison has seen firsthand the powerful impact that Outright has on educators, parents, and policymakers. She loves being part of a focused Board that's driving forward a vision to make magic happen for LGBTQ+ youth to shine. As a co-chair, Allison is committed to sharing knowledge and power. She leads with an awareness that no single person can, or should, lead alone. No one knows everything, each of us knows something, and together we know a lot!

Allison has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 30 years in the US, Eastern Europe, and China, with the past 5+ years as the Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Vermont Foodbank. Her professional focus has been on fundraising, grant writing, organizational development and building successful teams. This background, combined with being consistently inspired and challenged by the amazing LGBTQ+ youth in her life, has led to her service on the Board.

In her free time, Allison is pursuing some lofty goals: visiting all 251 Vermont towns with her kid (they’ve seen 150 as of 2022!) and making the perfect steamed bun. She’s finally nailed the custard and pork ones but is intimidated by red bean paste.

She is inspired by the leadership of LGBTQ+ youth, whose bold imagination calls on our courage to show up fearlessly, wholeheartedly, and with willingness to grow and change.
