Fire truck Pull LogoOutright Vermont’s hilarious annual fundraiser, the Fire Truck Pull, is happening on September 18th at noon on Church Street in Burlington. All proceeds raised will benefit Outright Vermont, the state’s queer youth center and statewide advocacy organization.

The Burlington City Fire Department lends Outright a fire truck for teams of community members and local businesses to pull 20 feet up the Church St. Marketplace. Teams compete for the coveted Golden Fire Truck prize. Prizes are awarded for “Best Dressed,” “Most Funds Raised,” “Fastest Pull Time,” and “Audience Choice.”

Kate Van Wagner, Outright Board member and captain of Team GAGA states: “folks are sponsoring me to dress up like Lady Gaga and strain my puny muscles pulling a fire truck up Church Street. The one and only reason I would do this is to show Vermont’s queer youth that I’ve got their backs. Outright is doing essential work in our schools and communities, and this is a fun, silly way to support them.” Other participating community teams include UVM Greek Life, Champlain College, Outright youth, the Green Mountain Derby Dames, Democracy for America, and several others.

The event will also include music from DJ John Martin, surprise guest judges, and more!

Outright Vermont is Vermont’s queer youth center and state-wide advocacy organization. The mission of Outright Vermont is to build safe, healthy, and supportive environments for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth. Visit Outright online at: www.outrightvt.org
