City Market Supports Charity Fire Truck Pull for LGBTQ Youth in Vermont

Today, Outright Vermont announced that City Market, Onion River Co-op, will be a lead supporter of this Saturday’s 6th Annual Fire Truck Pull Charity Challenge in Burlington. Proceeds raised will benefit Outright Vermont, the state’s queer youth center and statewide advocacy organization.

City Market has pledged to match employee donations up to $75.00 per person for this event. “City Market’s level of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth is extraordinary – as is its support for the causes its employees feel strongly about” stated Outright Vermont Executive Director Christopher Neff.

The Burlington City Fire Department will also be helping, lending a fire truck to this event on Saturday September 5th from 12:00 until 2:00 pm on Church Street. Teams of youth and teams of adults will pull the fire truck up Church Street (in front of the Old Navy store) for prizes including, “Best Dressed,” “Most Funds Raised,” “Fastest Pull Time,” and a new crowd-favorite, “Audience Choice.”

Participating community teams include returning champions City Market, UVM Greek Life, Champlain College, CVU High School, Democracy for America, and several youth teams.

The event will also include music, with DJ John Martin donating his time for this event as well.

City Market, OnionRiver Co-op, is a 16,000 sq. ft. community-owned food cooperative located in beautiful downtown Burlington, Vermont. City Market is Burlington’s only downtown grocery store, open 363 days per year from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
