City Market supports Outright Vermont

I do not do endorsements, and I usually try to eat pretty unhealthily. I love McDonald’s and most things that come in a bag. But I have a new and very good reason to pick up chicken at City Market instead of KFC.

City Market has stepped up and become a leading supporter of Outright Vermont’s Fire Truck Pull Charity Challenge this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. on Church Street, in front of Old Navy.

This year, City Market is matching all individual employee contributions, up to $75. This is a tremendous show of support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and allied youth that Outright supports and works with across Vermont.

These funds will go to anti-bullying presentations in middle schools and high schools; helping gay/straight alliances in schools statewide; and our new support group meetings in Rutland.

So I am writing to say thank you to City Market for the great support they are showing to our queer and allied youth in Vermont, and to encourage everyone to support the store.

They did a great thing for youth and in so doing have also given my friends hope that I might one day eat organic! Thank you, City Market! Sorry, McDonald’s. CHRISTOPHER NEFF
